First off, I am fine with Stripe, and even Link.
However, my credit cards will not work because I am in the USA and Ribblr is in the UK.
I even signed up for a link account thinking that would make it work. It still doesn’t. My card gets declined no matter how I try. I can’t be the only one, can I?
So, I was thinking, @Ribblr, you should have an office here in the US, so I can run my card. Or, you can gift me a free subscription of Ribblr+ Gold, I finally decided to get it to support you (OK, and to upload a pattern. I didn’t know we could do that).
My card doesn’t work with foreign/international purchases either, but I believe it has to do with the bank itself. Have you done anything to allow foreign/international purchases?
Thanks for wanting to support Ribblr (and use some really cool features ).
Totally get that it’s annoying though it is linked to your bank like @ArtsAndNaps said - as we do have many US subscribers.
Can you check with your bank?
The simple truth is that payments are complex!
I’ve had a problem when using a visa gift card in shops that weren’t US based. I ended up using my mom’s credit card and paying her back but I did have to contact Ribblr because there wasn’t a clear reason why my card was being declined
I have, and the short answer was “no”.
I cannot, ever.
Shoot, I did think about getting one and trying that.
Yep. I get it.
Sadly it only works for a few shops but it is a great way to use my gift cards that I got for Christmas a few years ago and haven’t used yet!
That was the same for me, I managed to get around it by using cash app thankfully that allows international transactions so whenever my card fails due to that it typically works with cashapp perhaps that’s something to consider or look into if you’re interested
checking now
Which shops does it work on?
So do I just use my phone? Or do I have to order a card? UGH. I hate technology anymore.
Yeah just your phone is fine, if you want you can order a free card but it’s not needed it has the card numbers in the app to use without a physical card. To See it the icon to the left of $ sign at the bottom it should look like a square with a circle in it will display the card info
The only one that I have successfully done so far is @wooliamigurumis I’ve only bought 4 patterns though 2 from wooli
Haha okay thanks!
I just saw I can add cash at my local middle of nowhere store. Will check it out. Thanks for your help.
No problem, hope it works out!
UPDATED
I forgot my Jerry has a Sam’s Club membership. That gives him a credit card … that worked. Yay!
(I took this out of suggestions because it doesn’t seem like my idea will work. But, leaving it all here because of the cashapp option. Might help others. (I would have tried that next!)
So glad it worked! You’re rocking that new Ribblr+ Gold
You’re NOT the only one. I’m already fighting with identity theft since 7/13/16. So getting ANY kind of “decline” freaks me out. I’m on a first name basis with everyone in the fraud department with USAA. Unfortunately, the only brick and mortar banks for USAA are in Texas and I live in WA! However, their phone service is top of the line! Ugh!
I did call and made sure I could still use the card after. Tried before to buy a pattern and didn’t know.
I’ve had it go thru, let’s say I’ve purchased 2 patterns so far on Tuesday, but my plan was to get a total of 5 patterns. As I go to pay for the third pattern it doesn’t work. So I skip that pattern and go try #4 and for some fricking reason it WORKS, then of course the 5th one won’t. It blows me away! Occasionally it allows me to use Apple Pay, but not consistently. If I’m able to use Apple Pay, every payment goes through.
Another thing I’d like to see is a CART, where you can add all the patterns you want and pay for them all at once. I have a Visa and I’m limited to 20 online payments per day.
