Personal YIR (year in review!)

Hi everyone! So I’ve come a long way since last year, and wanted to give everyone an update since people ocassionally ask - and i also welcome you to reflect on your own year and personal accomplishments as well, even if its just surviving!

So for the big one, we have Sprout!

As seen here, she has made it to public access! After a little over a year of rigorous training, this was our fist solo outing to Culvers!

She did fantastic and I am so so proud of how far weve come. And we couldnt have done it without this fantastic community - between pattern testing, helping Ribblr, making friends and support systems, i was able to fully fund all of Sprouts needs plus more.

She says thank you everyone <3 and has decided to sleep like shes origami.

Secondly, my crochet year in review has been amazing as well! As probably been inferred by the service dog, I am disabled. That being said, my supportive stream of income has been crocheting. Through markets, Ribblr and pattern testing i have gained so many new tricks and skills, that i finally feel like i can call myself an expert or advanced crocheter. <3

Here is my recent pattern test for @SweetenedWithYarn that i think even alone showcases my photography improvement.

Thank you again Ribblr-ites for being so supportive and sweet throughout my journey. This community holds a very special place in my heart, and i cannot thank you all enough for welcoming me into it!

Please leave stories and comments about your own personal achievements, growths, or about your success surviving this year. Everyone deserves some accolades for making it another 365 days!

That’s fantastic! You’ve come a long way! I did two markets this year and made a total of 140$ i have crocheted two sweaters whereas one has completely perfect stitches. I have made a giant dragon. I have discovered the community page on ribblr and i am so happy for it cuz everyone is so nice. I have gotten a lot of good grades. I have found my true passions in volleyball and studying medicine. And most importantly i have had a great time with friends and family!

So happy to hear the news about Sprout! :seedling: So adorable  all the photos are amazing as well

Love the yarn you used for the test as well, the stitches look amazing

For personal achievements I would say my yarn destash journey! I’ve gotten pretty far especially using up yarn that probably would have kept collecting dust forever but thankfully now get to see the light of day!! Also found some yarn I forgot I had that I love for garments!! Still going to destash probably in the new year as well :purple_heart:

First, Sprout is so cute! And the snowman :ok_hand: I especially love the eyes!

I joined Ribblr this year and have grown so much!

I’d have to start with doing a pattern test for the first time (on my 1st day! Shoutout to @LittleCreatures for accepting me:wink:)

I also wrote my very first pattern, and have created 8 more! (6 published total, 3 unpublished)

I sold my very first item last month and have sold a total of 14 mini monsters so far (I’ve been selling earrings for about 3 years but just added some little monsters to the lineup)

I have used a lot of my stash (and added to it A LOT) but I’m still working on that:rofl:

Some other random things that happened this year:

  • I purchased my very first pattern! Well, technically first 3! The dinos’mores by @croutonscrochet the sorbet narwhals by @wooliamigurumis and finally the small fairy dragon by @sleekgracecrochet
  • I started experimenting with glittery eyes! I got a pack of 18mm ones from amazon that I’m really enjoying
  • I bought my first pattern from etsy! The mini snuggle dragon by SnuggleBeansCrochet. I haven’t made it yet (I got it on Black Friday) but I’m sooo excited to!
  • I only ordered from Hobbii 1 time! Technically it wasn’t me, but I did ask my grandma for some yarn from there for Christmas so it still kinda counts. And I bought it all with the new dragons in mind (no buying just because it’s pretty:rofl:) My mom and I got way too much yarn from there last year
  • I discovered some A.M.A.Z.I.N.G designers on YouTube! (@crochetbygenna and @loopsandknotscrochet)

Whew that was a lot! This year has been so fun! And I definitely missed some things! Thanks for making this post so I could reflect on all these amazing things! I wouldn’t have realized it was actually this much otherwise:yellow_heart:

I have done multiple expert level patterns but I have never been able to say that I am an expert at crochet.
I am always my toughest judge.

Congratulations on all of your and your service dog’s hard work.

Thank you so much!! <3 Its crazy to see how everyone i’ve met here has grown!

@ArtsAndNaps I forever want to de-stash “For real”. Its just so convenient sometimes when I can go shopping in my own home. One day, at least for my fancy yarns, i’ll start to have to do that. I know I have a special box in my closet for all my wearables - alpaca, mulberry silk, etc. It’s crazy the stuff we can pick up as crafters!

@RainbowPenguin2 Holy cow! That’s some amazing growth in such a short time. Congrats on your first sale, and pattern test! I looove snugglebeanscrochet’s patterns as well, I think either her or Genna were my first Etsy buy. I’ll have to go back and look at Ribblr, I’ve accumulated so many patterns here I’ve had to start a pattern de-stash where I go through and actually make them.

@GreatCrochet I totally feel that. I hit a stage where I felt like a hit a rut with improving, but now with every little skill I learn in crochet its so refreshing. As time goes on those time become fewer and fewer but I’ve learned some interesting techniques, especially when I get to work with garments.

@SweetenedWithYarn Thank you so much! Honestly, your patterns are just some of my absolute favorites. I definitely think its a toss up between this new snowman pattern and the polar bear. They are just some of my absolute faves.
