Pillowcase Ideas?

Hey guys!! I have this random pillow I found and I know I want to crochet a pillowcase for it. Do you have any ideas or what type of yarn to use?? This would be for decor!

Warning: pretty long lol :joy:

Hmm, since it’ll be decorative and won’t be used it’ll be fine if the yarn isn’t machine washable so I would first find out what type of colors/stitch/pattern you’ll use that way it’ll be easier to find a yarn since some yarn have better stitch definition than others and more shades and tints of colors than others

I would look for yarn that’s not that expensive and has a lot of yards as depending on what stitch/pattern you’ll follow it can be a lot of yarn so having it be affordable would be good, I think yarn like red heart super saver yarn, bernat super value yarn (I find this yarn softer than red heart super saver yarn, but that’s a personal preference and may be different to you), or whatever yarn brands you like to see if they have a yarn that has a lot of yards is nice you might also want to consider yarn that’s anti pilling as well, but you can also splurge on some good yarn as well

Also I would consider as well if you’d like to be able to remove the pillowcase as well, things like zippers, buttons, open one end, envelope pillow case, etc are good options

If you don’t want texture but more appearance granny squares could be perfect as you can apply appliques to it or just a granny square with a nice design already in it (if you opt for this option I would make one granny square and lay it on the pillow and measure to see how many squares you’ll need as gauge could be different for different patterns and tension and then crochet the amount of squares needed)

When you get an idea of what you kind of want let us know and I can help whether it be types of patterns or colors to use for that pattern, etc

I think I might do a mushroom/toadstool theme. I’ll use 4# weight yarn in colors red, white (mushroom) and green (background) in granny square form. I’ll post about it if I ever end up finishing it :joy: thank you for your appreciated responses!

i recommend using granny squares with like a mushroom or sunflower vibe. they’re quite popular so you can find tutorial on yt or something. also don’t use plush yarn cause… ehem… i tried and it was a total mess with the fluff going everywhere

Do you have a favorite game, or movie character or marvel character?
Graphigan graphs would make an awesome pillow case cover. I’d recommend worsted weight or cotton.
