Prefered Pattern Format Poll

Hi everyone! I have seen a few different ways of writing patterns and I’ve been wondering which style most people prefer to read, a condensed version just specifying the number of stitches or writing styles that format it as “in next … sts”.

  • Sc in next 2 sts, inc in next 3 sts, sc in next st.
  • 2 sc, (inc) x3, sc.

I like it when it’s less wordy

I like when it’s shorter. Helps me keep better track of what I’m doing.

Me too especially when its a long pattern, my brain switches off and i give up  too long didn’t read.

Definitely condensed. The wordier version gets confusing if it’s written like that for every step

I like it better when it’s short. My brain kinda breaks when it’s the long version

Me too! I get confused otherwise.

I like the shorter one! Like others, the longer can confuse me. I know what it means, but i have to stop and think about it sometimes so it slows things down.

Definitely no words. Words should be for when you have to explain a complicated step. If you feel the need to explain basic stitches or how to read a pattern, you can do that in the notes section. Jmo
