Hello! I know that ribblr, a place for yarn enthusiasts, might be a weird place to ask this question at, but at the end of the day, we are all crafters, right?
I need some help! I have never dyed something before and don’t have the knowledge for something like this but I want to try anyway lol
I have a build a bear frog (he is green :>) that I want to try and dye. I have some rit dye, and I was thinking/wondering whether or not it would be okay to use regular rit dye, that is not synthetic, and it wouldn’t harm the plush. I was also wondering if I dye him without taking out the stuffing, will that still work too, or will I have to perform surgery on him and remove all of the stuffing from inside him, then wash the skin, then dye him, stuff him again, and then sew him back up?
Also, forgot to add this, but would it be too hard to do a swirl of red, blue, and yellow if I have never done so before? What are some tips? And also would the dye spread and get mixed up? Or would it be able to stay separated? Sorry so many questions lol, I just don’t want to mess it up :,>
I have NO experience in dying things, so I have ZERO idea on what to do, but I see what you are asking help on. I would be stumbled too, but the part on having to dye him with the stuffing in makes little sense to me…i think. I would say you would have to take the stuffing out to dye just because it can cause some problems on the inside and it might just be all wet and stuff. I’m sorry if this makes no sense, I have absolutely no idea what i’m talking about or even trying to say so…this might not be much help
lol yeah, I assumed that it would make the stuffing wet and/or would mat it down so it wasn’t able to poof back up again. Good thing though is that I could make my froggy more squishy bc I like my stuffies to be very floppy lol, so I could remove some of the stuffing from his head and use that for crochet plushies later xD
