Question about magic rings

So i feel stupid not knowing this as ive been crocheting for a while and ive been kind of able to work around this issue but i dont know what im doing wrong. So basically when i get to the end of the round in a magic ring i need to slip stitch into the first stitch of the round and chain one to start the new round (at least thats how i was taught) But when i do that it slowly moves in like a diagonal until im not starting the round where i should be because the first stitch of the round gets moved. Does that make sense?

I usually just work in a continuous circle without doing a sl st & ch 1 every round.

The diagonal movement is unavoidable if you are crocheting with the right side always facing you, the stitches will naturally drift. Doing a yarn under instead of a yarn over can help to reduce it, but the only way to counteract it is to turn your work at the end of the round (it will result in a different appearance though). If doing that then you would need to sl st & ch 1 before you turn.

Joined rounds are generally only for certain patterns + for neater color changes, continuous rounds usually work just fine for amigurumi :D

I had this issue for the LONGEST time and it really made a difference in some of the amigurumi patterns I made. What I finally figured out that helped me is to crochet my first stitch of the next round in the same stitch that I made a slip stitch into.

At the end of the round, I skip the slip stitch ch 1 and make my new slip stitch into the first real stitch I made.

Hope this helps!!!
