Question for hats

When making and selling hats- what is the a average amount of Chs you make for the hat?

It depends on your tension/gauge, the size you’re aiming to make and the type of hat you want to make, you can also opt to make a magic circle/ring, which is what I’ve always done so I probably can’t offer a good answer for how many chains, I would probably look for a tutorial either on how to make a hat or the math behind it to create one yourself whichever you prefer

Way too many variations to answer that. I recommend following a pattern and checking gauge to be sure you get the same size.

I’ve never worked with chs! My favourite way of making beanies is working in continuous rnds of inca until the crown of the head is covered, then start going down in repeated all-sc rnds. You can make any size if you know how much the diameter of the crown should measure! :slightly_smiling_face:

Is there a pattern you’re following, or a specific type of hat?

I’m not too familiar with that. Is that the one where you crochet a rectangle or something and then sew it up?

Yes

So, if you’re starting from the brim, just chain until you get a lenth that matches the circumference.
