What do you do with your yarn scraps? I have enough that I can do swatches but idk what else to do. I like to use as much as I can before buying more yarn.
- Gauge swatches
- Random swatches
- Cut it up to use as stuffing
- Throw it out

I make little keychains/plushies out of the longer ones, I use the shorter ones as embroidery/sewing thread, and I use the really tiny scraps as stuffing
I use them as stuffing, or for embroidery
I save all of it (like every single little piece I cut off) in a jar and use as stuffing, but I don’t cut it up into small pieces.
I don’t really see why you would need to do that, but to be fair I don’t really use any other stuffing than yarn scraps (except for two old pillows I’ve saved for the stuffing, I usually prefer the firmness of the yarn scraps though
)
I turned a long knitted sweater from second hand into a more cropped sweater so I got a lot of stuffing material out of that one!
I’m also saving all the fabric scraps that I cut off of my t-shirts, like the sleeves and length, to make into t-shirt yarn in the distant future ![]()
Just make sure to actually have a small container around you to put all the scraps in as you go, and you’ll avoid unnecessary mess and cleaning ![]()
When I make keychains or other small items that I don’t want to shove polyfill into its a great use for that to reuse and recycle my yarn cause I have plenty of scraps
i’m currently collecting my scraps to make a scrap basket!
I save all of my scraps to use for stuffing. Unless there is something wrong with it I feel like it’s a waste to toss it. Stuffing doesn’t come cheap. XD
Occasionally, if it’s a long enough strand, yet not long enough for a project I will connect it to this ever growing ball of 4 weight yarn. Maybe one day it’ll get turned into a project.
I use it as stuffing most of the time. but if I have longer pieces, I am currently Russian joining them all together so I can make a cute scrap yarn animal!
i use it as stuffing!
