selling

hello! I want to start selling plushes on etsy. but I have a few worries

  1. do people actually buy crochet plushes? I can make bags too, but I don’t really see people actually buying them or bags.
  2. pricing? I can crochet relatively fast, although clothes take more than 24 hours. including bags. I want my pricing to be fair to others but to me also
  3. ideas? I only have few animals in mind, but bag ideas? more animals? pls help! I want to start off with something small and then do more harder projects.
  4. promoting. how should I promote myself? my a teen, and I will be selling things with my mom through her shop. I don’t have any social media besides yt, (and I’m not allowed to post anything) do you think I should ask for an Instagram or tik tok to promote myself?
  5. packaging. how do I make bussniess cards? or should I? freebies? where to get packaging, how does this work and pls give tips
  6. supplies? is there anything you reccomend getting to make this process easier?

overall I have a lot of questions and I appreciate any type of help! thank you

I don’t know much about this. But I would suggest getting a Pinterest! It’s great for ideas, and u can post announcements or makes!

  1. People will buy plushies and bags, but I personally think they sell better at markets than online platforms. Only because you have to include shipping and a few other costs.
  2. Definitely price according to the time and effort you put into your make.
  3. I personally think animals sell better than bags. People will buy the animals as gifts.
  4. I’d suggest Pinterest. I post my makes on there. (I think you can also sell on Pinterest but I’m not sure.)
  5. I made my business cards on Vistaprint. I thought they were pretty affordable. Freebies would be fun! Not sure where to get packaging from. Maybe try Walmart or Staples.
  6. Make sure to have all supplies on hand before starting anything. Such as yarn, stuffing, safety eyes, and packaging stuff.

P.S. - I personally don’t suggest selling on Etsy. They have a lot of fees and they take some of the money you make.

Hopefully this was helpful.

I also sell at markets and plushies sell there the best although around holidays, people are mostly online a lot. I get my business cards from Visual Crafters (probably never heard of it)

I am also teenage and promote myself through my mom’s instagram. She does all the work for me. Also make small amiguriumi that you are good at, so you can make lots during holiday time. You can rest assured that where ever there are people who need gifts, crochet plushies will always come in clutch.
