After having two of my patterns wrongfully flagged for AI and getting no response from Ribblr yet, followed by having my post removed from yesterday (God forbid someone actually posts some real emotion and issues), I will 100% be leaving Ribblr. At the very least, as a designer.
I began creating designs more for others, than myself. It has never been about trying to “make it”, turn it into a full time job, or anything like that. I started creating to help bring joy to others. To encourage fellow fiber artists to branch out of their comfort zones and try new techniques and to realize they could do more than they thought they could with some help and encouragement.
This platform wound up not being what I anticipated when I first got here - being that it is more of a social platform for young people than a craft platform - but I did initially fall in love with it despite that quirk. Generally speaking, when I found Ribblr I anticipated it being more about patterns and the art than “general spaces” kinds of chatter, is all I’m saying.
I am grateful that Ribblr gave me a space to feel safe delving into designing, being that I was scared out of my wits to try initially. It is very intimidating putting your designs out there for scrutiny, hoping they’re written well, and wondering what the feedback will be or if all the time spent will even be enjoyed or wanted eventually.
To my testers over the last year and a half, thank you so much for being so wonderful. Many of you are in my Discord server where I post tester calls and releases, and I have formed even closer friendships with a handful of you because of that (@JessJessThePrincess @Mamastarr @Stringsattached92 ). You three in particular help keep me sane ![]()
If you aren’t in the discord and would like to be a part of it, as I intend to keep designing - just not here - you can DM me for an invite or do a search for The Missed Stitch.
I will officially be removing all of my patterns October 1st. If you have already purchased one, or purchase one before the 1st, it is my understanding that it remains in your patterns here on Ribblr. 99% of them come with downloadable PDFs anyway, which you could save prior to then if you’re at all concerned with losing them.
The patterns I had in testing will not be getting released here, so for those of you who asked to be tagged in the release, I apologize. I do intend to have my personal website up and running sooner than later (so no I am not advertising a competitive platform here out of respect) so you can watch that, or watch my IG which is linked through my shop here.
Thanks for the good times. Sorry the bad times have outweighed them and prompted this change. Take care.
~Autum (aka PrincessMonter @ The Missed Stitch)
