Slippers

Do you put anything on the bottom of the slippers you create to make them non-skid &/or last longer?

What works best? Puff paint? Leather? Use a flip flop (thong) sole?

I think your suggestions are really good! What I find is the best method for me is instead of using puff paint (Because it dries slowly) I use a hot glue gun and make a wavy design on the bottom of the slipper.
I guess it depends which method you prefer! :purple_heart:

To be honest, I haven’t tried any of them yet. I was hoping there was a consensus of ‘best’ answer.

Hot glue doesn’t ruin the fiber?

I usually sew a base of felt fabric to the bottom first, and then use the glue gun, but you can test in out on a little swatch to see if it works!

This is how I did it on my Sheep Slippers pattern:

New question - can you machine wash those or does the felt/glue make them hand wash only?

I put mine in the washing machine and it’s fine! However it does wear out over time if you use them often, so I find that the glue needs to be re-applied at some point (Or maybe I just walk heavily…? )

I use puffy paint. Be careful with a glue gun as can melt acrilics, my friend melted a toy she made and was trying to glue eyes to.

I was worried about that. Thank you.
