Luckily you don’t need to crochet with it. I sew the faux fur on, sort of like embroidery. I know a lot of people hate sewing though. My patterns unfortunately have a lot of sewing.

That sounds like a short cut to me! 
Honestly, sewing doesn’t really ruffle my feathers all that much, and your patterns are worth it.
