stitch marker poll

hello! i was watching a youtube tutorial and she placed her stitch marker in the last stitch of her rows, which caught me off guard because i always place them in the first stitch of each row, so i decided to make a poll and see what y’all do!

  • i place stitch markers in the last stitch of each row
  • i place stitch markers in the first stitch of each row
  • i don’t use stitch markers

I just do it because I find it really annoying to have to take out the stitch marker over and over again :joy:! But I bet some people find it really annoying to count the stitches while they do them,so it just depends on the person !

I used to not use stitch markers (didn’t even know they existed until recently! lol) but once I started I never stopped unless its a super easy/small project. Also only ever saw in the first stitch in videos, so never occurred to use it as the last stitch. (might try it out) but I do like the first one when closing a row before the next, makes finding the right stitch to slst into easier to find, esp on a more difficult pattern. helps keep count of rows or stitches (super long, over 50sts) too. sorry long reply lol

I place mine in the first st, but for small rounds (6-18 sts), I don’t use a st marker at all.

i almost never use stitch markers, but unless i have to, i most certainly will.
in bigger crochet projects, i tend to put a stitch marker in the 1st stitch of each row.

I used to never use stitch markers. I now use them at the beginning of rows and depending on how many stitches per row will space then out ever 20 or so just so I don’t have to go back and count

Last st just makes more sense to me. I always stop at the end of a round so I prefer to not have to move a stitch marker when I start. It ruins the flow of the round imo :woman_shrugging:

I don’t use stitch markers often, only when the project is very big. Before I start my new round, i put my st markeron the loop where my hook is and then continue with the round!
