Happy Sunday, Ribblr family! Today, I’m just sitting with my coffee, looking at some yarn, and thinking about how incredible our craft is. As makers, we take a single string of thread and turn it into clothing, blankets, bags, and memories. Every stitch carries our time, our patience, and a piece of our heart.
It’s not just a hobby; it’s a superpower!
To all the beautiful souls here, what is one thing crochet/knitting has taught you about yourself? Let’s spread some love and inspiration in the comments today!
one thing crochet has taught me about myself is that i can’t count, lol! okay, in all seriousness, crochet has taught me a lot about my personal style. the more i crochet, i really start to see patterns in the things i’m making (color/vibes)!
Haha, the struggle with counting stitches is so real! Every crocheter understands that lol. But that’s so beautiful how it helped you discover your personal style and favorite colors. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us today!
Wow, this is so powerful and beautifully said! Our hands truly hold so much magic, and creating art with them is the best feeling. Thank you for sharing such an inspiring answer!
I just loved reading this post. It’s so positive and joyful.
I’ve always had that feeling, that a skein of yarn is such a magical thing. It has the potential to become anything. No matter how many identical skeins they sell I’m sure it NEVER becomes the same thing twice. Just unbridled potential.
I often thought I’d like to work somehow with a yarn company, for that reason.
And yes, I see that. How every stitch carries a part of you with it. It’s embedded with your heart and soul, and hopes and dreams.
I think the most important thing crochet taught me is to not sell myself short and that I can often do more and better than I think I can
For me, this was because of how HARD learning crochet was for me. And yes I am self taught and taught myself on YouTube .
But it wasn’t always easy. The first time I tried to learn, I completely gave up telling myself I am NEVER going to get this, it’s way TOO HARD FOR ME…and then I totally gave up
Then I tried again to learn about 6 months later…same result.
Then again and the same thing.
And the next time, I made it and it clicked and I got it. Then I watched myself learn and grow, moving from a total beginner to intermediate level.
So in the end, I think one of the greatest gifts crochet gave me …is now if I try to tell myself that something in my life is too hard for me and I’ll never get it …now I can tell myself " Oh yeah, I once said the same thing about crochet and I DID master it, so who’s to say I can’t master this too?"
Thank you so much for sharing your incredible story! Your words truly touched my heart because I also self-taught on YouTube, failed several times, and wanted to give up completely. But rising above that and pushing through is what makes our journey so special!I love what you said about a skein of yarn having unbridled potential—it’s so true, no two creations are ever the same! You should be so proud of your growth from a beginner to intermediate. Your amazing reflection has truly made my Sunday!
