Tapestry crocheters

I have an entire new respect for tapestry crocheters, ive never done tapestry before so i thought id give it a go, im doing a cloud which is 16x14 and has 2 colour changes per round and 4 rounds of just solid blue, but the amount of weaving in om now having to do is insane and i have no clue how people that do tapestry dont go insane when its like 100x100 withvlike 20 colpurs and 20 colour changes per row, honestly if you do tapestry well done x

It’s looking good. When I do tapestry crochet I carry the extra colours through the work and if I don’t need them for a few rows/Rnds I carry them up the sides.

I only made one tapestry work and I sewed a piece of fabric to the back

I tend to float my stitches and try to limit the amount of ends to weave but even then having 10 colours is still at the very least 20 ends to weave in

This is the back of a current tapestry i’m working on

Colour changes can make the work tight, so I always give it a little stretch out after changing colour and at the end of each row. I also give a slight tug on the colour that’s running through unused to straighten it out. Also you want to check your stitch count regularly and do the colour change on the last yarn over of the current colour.

You can also just float all of the yarn and make an extra backing piece. Then single crochet the two pieces together, that will hide all of the floats with no weaving involved.
