I applied earlier today, and I haven’t been notified for pattern testing. I just want to make sure I didn’t do something wrong because this would be an awesome pattern to test!
No it’s fine
I’d love to test if youre still taking applications
Yes thank yoy
I haven’t tested a pattern on ribblr in a while i cant remember how to access the pattern do you send it to me to complete?
Hi it doesn’t show that you have wanted to accept to be a tester but when you will you have to press on my patterns and then you see a testing tab and then press it and you will see the patter
Edit - i apologise if this read rude that was not my intention. Ways it would be improved as youve said use any hook size you like ask the maker to chain the length that will fit a pen depending on hook and yarn size as this will allow the creater to create something with their tools that will fit their needs. Also, a chain 1 and turn while not necessary will make edges neater, and make going into that first chain at the beginning much easier for the person doing the pattern for example instead of chaining 30 and going into that first chain if youre wanting 30 chains lenght, chain 31 and working into the second chain ofnthe hook.
I hope these suggestions make sense, and help you in editing your pattern. I apologise once again for the blunt initial feedback i didnt want to just take your pattern and rewrite it as then it would no longer be your pattern and wish you all the best with your test moving forward
I have attempted this pattern and while i as someone who has crocheted for a yeqrs and own a business creating crochet items can make it work its really poorly written, you’ve not included a gage for it to be made to, it supposed to be a pencil case however a 3mm hook and the chain amount given dont fit a standard pen, i can look at the photo and know what youre trying to achieve however the instruction and direction don’t work for a beginner friendly pattern. If youre looking to release this as a paid pattern it needs t be rewritten and a lot more context given.
If youre looking for ways to improve you’ll need to give much more context and information.
You could be just a little nicer about it for example you could maybe give them suggestions on how to fix it how to put gauge in the pattern, maybe ask to be an editor
. (I’m trying really hard to not be rude, but maybe you should read through your comment and see how rude it sounds to the designer.) you are essentially calling their pattern bad and calling them incompetent and there are WAY nicer ways to help someone correct their pattern! Since you are an experienced crocheter I would expect you to actually understand the struggles someone is having writing their pattern and be able to put your nowledge to good use and help them
!!!
I apologise for my rude and bluntness I struggle with putting things into words and I didnt want to come across bossy or telling them what to do as in my brain its their parrten, they’ve asked for it to be tested not for it to be edited.
I understand that the way what I wrote could be rude and I’m happy to edit it with kinder wording and include suggestions. Thank you for your feedback
I’m also testing and had the same thought about the hook size (I’m using a 4.5mm. No yarn weight was given either and I was surprised to see it was made with a 3mm as it doesn’t look like it was honestly. But I went worsted weight and a 4.5 which is giving me a bit more density and stiffness and working up to a size large enough to hold a pen or my crochet hooks).
And was coming in to add the same comment on the first step and the chain 30 versus chain 31 and work into the second loop. I’ve also seen folks write patterns as “Chain 30 for your foundation chain, chain 1, 30 hdc/htr”. But one or the other, that ought to be written in, agreed.
And I admit it didn’t even cross my mind it that it wasn’t written to turn as I did anyhow. That is something that isn’t always explicitly stated at every row but it might be included in the opening instructions or notes “Rows are worked by turning at the start of every row”. It is probably best to not assume folks just know, especially on a site like Ribblr where amigurumi patterns/makers are so common and folks may be used to working in the round/without turning.
