I would love to try this pattern out! I love that you’ve got clear requirements set. Always helpful to know what makers are looking for!
I’d use Anko Velvet Yarn, with soft pink for the shell, (and as requested, yes, I do actually read these things completely! ) light brown for the body, and white for the dots. I’ll have a play with the best sizing, but I’m thinking a 3.5mm or 4mm hook. I’m good with high sew projects. 
I’ve done a couple testers so far here on Ribblr so not my first try! I love helping out where I can 
I’m fairly new to Ribblr, but I’ve been crocheting for a long time!
Here are some of my recent makes.
The rose here shows the velvet yarn (though colouring is slightly off due to lighting).

if picked, i would use catania sport weight yarn. red top with white spots and i’m thinking a light khaki/green for the body. i’m thinking 3mm hook.
My craft room is mushroom themed and he would just be adorable sitting on a shelf next to some of my crocheted mushrooms!
