The bottom is done in rows, then you continue to make the body of the bag by crocheting around the bottom piece which will make it be done in the round. I think once you reach the straps then you’ll have to work in rows again. I’m not that far along yet though.
I am almost done with one strap of the bag and it is going to make the bag twisted. the strap is not centered to the sides. If I center the stitches then the design will not lineup.
Hey, sorry for the late reply. Looks great! I’m trying to figure out where I went wrong with the alignment of the bottom and body patterns.
My bag also twisted. I think it would be easier if I made separate patterns for the sides, front, and back and worked in rows.
But I can fix the pattern so that the strapes look symmetrical.
Thanks for testing :)
Maybe if the start of the strap was shifted over by 7 or 8 stitches for each strap that might center it more and keep the bag from twisting.
This is my progress so far I think it looks great so far! However, the grid on my pattern messed up? I was working on it one second and the next the pattern is not only completely different, but now i cant find where i was in the pattern and now i cannot continue
We were able to clarify it in the dm. Looks really nice so far. :)
I’ve adjusted the pattern so I hope the straps are in the right place now (I shifted it over 6 stitches). And I’ve also adjusted the instructions and the chart for the transition from bottom to body. Everything should be fine now. Thanks for your testing, it helped a lot. :)
Thanks. I will unravel the strap and give it a go. I will let you know how it turns out. It will probably be awhile before I can get to it but I will definitely give it another try.
I thought I was gonna be able to do this but your idea of alpha knotting and the real definition of alpha knotting are totally different… true alpha knotting is just that, knotting. you have your weft strands hanging down and your working yarn gets knotted to each weft in the order of the pattern.
from what I’m reading your crocheting this pattern using an alpha knot pattern. not trying to stir anything but just trying to make sure my understanding of what I’m reading and seeing is correct-.
Oh, I didn’t know that. I meant graph pattern/pixel grid. English isn’t my first language. Thanks for clarifying :)
This is for anyone testing the pattern:
I still have the old pattern right now and thats what im working on. Im 3 rounds away from the straps and I’m trying to tinker with the pattern, see if I can mix both the old and updated grid to make the straps? If not, has anyone figured out how to get rhe straps straight without messing with the pattern too much! Thanks! <3
No worries..I was just trying to make sure I was understanding this correctly.. alpha knotting I can do one handed.. that’s why I was getting excited…now it gives me any idea of something I can create! So, now it’s all good!! I can craft! Lol
Finished the pattern! Thank you again for letting me test it!
Im also using it as a bag for my summer school classes (RIP bro-), and it can hold a lot! Ofc yarn does streth, so if you mind the way the strap stretches then I’d suggest lining the bag and doing somr lining around the strap, or only on the strap to make sure it doesnt stretch! I personally dony mind it, however soon I might put some fabric on there to prevent it
