Tester Experience

Hi there!

My primary recommendation is to have designers input a formal deadline date on the projects they’re testing and have the deadline display under the pattern in the “testing” tab. I’ve been keeping note of when patterns are due on the notes app on my phone, but it would be nice to see which tests are due when right in house. Maybe have them turn red when they’re past due and let continue letting designers decide if/when they want to remove a late tester.

My second suggestion is to have some way to have some method to let testers to apply for completed status. It’s been almost two months since I finished one of my tests and I’ve reached out to the designer several times and they still haven’t approved my test and awarded me the karma :frowning: I have enough karma by now that I’m not really worried about the points itself, but I’d love to be able to clear out my testing tab without having to resign from the project and lose the pattern.

Lastly, an idea I’ve been toying with is tester awards! As a designer and tester, I think it would be super nice to have an award to give to an extremely dedicated tester. Most testers complete the project, point out if they saw anything incorrect, and say it’s a good project. Nothing wrong with that, love them! But I’ve had testers make the project several times and give detailed suggestions for improvements and I wish I could give them a little extra love, especially when it’s a bigger project that I know took them a lot of love and dedication to complete.

Of these suggestions, the due date is something I think is very important and shouldn’t be hard to implement. The other two are cool additions that I think would improve the experience but nothing critical. Thank you!!

PS very sorry if this came off as rude at all. I’m autistic and I do my very best to maintain an obviously positive and supportive attitude, but I know that I sometimes miss the mark. If you’d be willing, please point out anything that is rude and perhaps explain why. I ask this so that I may be better in the future!! I love this app and I love all the artists behind and inside it and I only ever want to facilitate a positive experience for everyone :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I also wish there was a way to clear out finished tests. I’ve had people drop me from tests when I still had two weeks to deadline as well, which was annoying also. They didn’t even say why. I was finishing projects I had that were quick so I could focus on their more long term projects. It was also two weeks before Christmas, and the deadline was in January. I would have had an entire week to focus only on the doll she wanted tested. I wasn’t ignoring it. I have a cat pattern that has been in my tester folder for months which I finished like two or three days after it was assigned. I often do patterns within 2-3 days. Sometimes I sign up for too many and push the deadlines a bit. I’m trying to get better about that.

All that rambling to say, I think another way to reward testers would be great, and would inspire people to get more involved, enthusiasticcally.

YES!! I’m personally a tester, and these would be SO helpful! I have to keep going back and forth from the group chat to check if I have enough time. Also tester rewards would be SUPER fun!!

And other requirements would be nice to see right there too like yarn requirements or if they want it posted on Instagram.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! We have an upcoming feature drop with lots of new improvement for our safe testing tools. If you want to be the first to test it but haven’t yet applied, check this out:

Also wondered if we could get a calendar for our tests? Is that too crazy hard? Sometimes they don’t move it to the testing chat or they forget to put me in the tester chat
