Update us on if you hear anything back from them.
Absolutely!
I don’t know… that sucks
I’m so sorry that must have been so frustrating ![]()
that would be absolutely awful. if i was you i would try to reach out to the designer one last time, or just give up with the mentality “not my problem”.
Hi,
Well, I always give people the benefit of the doubt; however, if someone knowingly publishes a flawed product….not good. If that has happened, I want the pattern name so I don’t purchase it.
I would report it and send in documents. Patterns should have clear instructions and if testers have asked nicely and they responded then they need to follow through with fixing it. To behave that way isn’t fair to all the testers time and money invested in it. No matter if it’s a hypothetical situation or not. If someone can’t take polite responses to pattern issues then they maybe need to rethink designing.
Isn’t the pointing out what tests are for? ![]()
If the readers don’t understand the instruction it needs to be changed.
Then again… I don’t always understand what they mean even if it’s clearly written, so I have to try several times, do other patterns in between and suddenly the coin drops! ![]()
yes This person sorta corrected the test as it was going along. It was terrible. Pattern was was written very poorly. It was even published poorly written. The (inc,sc) after stich count is their corrections. At least it is a free pattern.
That looks similar to another pattern I tested where the designer made the corrections whilst we were testing and still left their instructions after the correct instructions but separated them with the word ‘or’. Then they released the pattern with the unclear instructions they used only. The designer was also advised to add assembly instructions as there were none and chose not to. I don’t know why the pattern was sent to test as none of the suggestions/recommendations were made in the end. At least it is free.
That also happens to me. Sometimes it takes a little while for my brain to get it. I always ask the designer for clarification and if it doesn’t sink in I move on to something else and come back to it when my mind is clearer.
Update: I privately messaged the designer a couple of days ago and they got back to me last night. They were really great and have reopened the tester call so we can iron out the current issues before re-releasing it.
The designer responded to my dm and reopened the test so we can work on getting it fixed before re-releasing.
maybe I am just spoiled or the new pattern designers just dont get it. I have been crocheting 40 or so years. I have seen some good patterns and bad patterns. If I am going to make something I prefer a pattern that is easy to read and understand. I think it is great there are new generations out there creating and publishing things, but the new ones cant take helpful criticism well. If you dont want help making your pattern easier to understand and read then why even do a test.
Yes, I’ve made a note of a couple of designers I’d prefer not to test for again. Overall my experience has been great and most designers are very helpful, supportive and understand we’re loving their work and want it to be the best it can be.
That sounds AWFUL! I’m so sry!
WHAT? That is insane!!! You should DEFINITELY report it. Like they didn’t even let you finish!
