Oh dear, that must be some weird issue with copy and paste. Thanks for catching it!
I will fix it.
Basically, measure the chain around your head once you meet the gauge and if you need to make it bigger, add two stitches per size. I have a 22" head and I did 36".
I have no idea what bulky yarn would be in New Zealand… It’s thick and bulky… Maybe there is a conversion chart online?? Goog;e Bernat Softee Chunky to get an idea maybe?

I tested a ribbed dishcloth/hotpad and used 3 strands of 8ply and it created chunky. Thankyou
