Hi guys! I know the world is… not that great of a place right now. Everyone always talks about how you have to “appreciate the little things in life,” but I feel like nobody really does. There’s a lot of things people overlook, so how about we just take a minute to stop and smell the roses.
What are some of your favorite “little things,” Ribblr or otherwise? I’ll go first!
I love it when, on Ribblr, people tag a designer as a rec, and then the designer responds! It’s so common on this site, but not as much on others imo. Ribblr is so tight-knit and kinda small, and a lot of designers are active on the community— it makes me so happy.
I also like axolotls. And axolotl memes. And axolotl squishies. I got an axolotl fidget recently, and he’s my idiot, and I love him.
I love seeing young children reading because I know how much of an effect brainrot has on gen Alpha so seeing 7 year olds reading Harry Potter makes me so happy
One ‘little thing’ that I like is that traditional books are still being made cause I’m a die hard bookworm so without books, I don’t know how I’ll be able to find meaning in this world. Of course I see a lot more kids and teens my age are normally on games or social media, but at least I see a small group of bookworms in my neighbourhood community which means that not everyone is in the majority anyways im just thankful that books are still being made
I love seeing young girls playing instead of doing makeup and social media. I think its sad that they all want to grow up so bad that they arent enjoying the perks of being a kid. You only get one childhood and I think it should be spent relaxing and having fun, not worrying about your looks.
There are a lot of little things in my life that I don’t take much time to fully appreciate. My girlfriend is probably the number 1 thing because she is the first person I’ve been with who will take the time to listen to me, even when I am being whiny and annoying. She does so much for me and I can’t thank her enough.
Other than that, I’m grateful for time. Time is the most limited resource we have and we always want more but yet we use it the worst. I try not to spend my days waiting for the next most exciting thing to happen, or waiting for something better. Even on my worst days, I try to appreciate the now.
my little thing is when my friends, especially those on ribblr, make me actually feel seen, or go out of their way to talk to me. i’ve kinda been ignored most my life and feeling like i actually mean something to others makes me so happy <3
Exactly! Yeah, 10-15 y/os nowadays are feeling pressured to grow up much faster then they should. Social media, Makeup/Skincare, bad parenting… unfortunately those are responsible for what this has become. I mean, that stuff is made for 20 y/os, freaking adults I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, but teens shouldn’t be wearing that much makeup and kids shouldn’t be wearing any period. I find it so sad that 8-10 y/os aren’t asking for toys for their birthday’s, Christmas’… instead they’re asking for stuff they don’t even need. And not to mention they spend all day on their devices instead of playing outside, getting some dirt on their feet & hands, spending time with family… it’s sad as to what this world is slowly becoming and I’m actually scared for the future of those children.
Oh god and don’t even get me started with school.. my little brother and little sister are both 12-13 and can barely read, write, solve simple math equations.. it’s not even funny anymore
This is kind of silly but the little thing I love the most is receiving flowers from someone, it just means so much and makes me so happy! I also LOVE being outside when it’s above sixty degrees and seeing people smile!

I’m thankful for my friends and how much they impact my life, I’m thankful for my family and how even though we have our ups and downs we still have each other, I’m thankful that the Lord is merciful and gracious to me (and everyone else) even when I don’t deserve it, I’m thankful for the way my entire life is and we are all so blessed
Exactly!! I’m 15 and I don’t wear makeup, but most people my age hate me for it. I had a friend who asked for skincare (some kind of expensive moisturizer) when she turned 12. I had no money for that and was surprised to see that she wanted such a wierd present. We used to make gifts for each other, drawings and clay sculptures… all that kind of things. So I thought I would make her a meaningful gift instead of the skincare. I crocheted a big and very realistic plushies from her cat with a pattern on Ravelry (she had the sweetest cat ever!!) but when I have it to her on her birthday, she hated it. Said I destroyed her reputation in front of the friends “who weren’t crazy” (extremely thin and with alot of makeup and tiktok) we kind of lost contact… Almost 1 year later, she texted me that her cat got ran over by a truck (RIP Teun ) and she was sorry she threw the plushies away, asking me to make a new one for her but I refused…
A thing on ribblr than I love, is when people (that I don’t even know) tell me not to give up on my dreams (of becoming an actress) It just makes my day!!
Getting to be goofy with my swim friends after practice. My friends in math class. Delicious boba . Going downtown into my city and just being there is amazing.
I love how on Ribblr so many ppl have connected with me, especially when I was depressed, and I am so grateful to you as well for making this post!
Also, ik some ppl have already said it, but seeing Gen Z’s like myself reading instead of being on their phones makes me so happy!
When I see people doing stuff together and actually talking with each other that makes me happy also when a raindrop falls right on the tip of my nose that’s a weird one but it’s fun when it happens. Anddd when all the yarn coupons work together.
