I look forward to seeing your patterns here! Will continue to follow you wherever you are, not in a stalking way lol! We are a community that closely monitors for pattern stealing and Ai. As soon as I saw that test post, thought of you.

Hey, I hate to be the devil’s advocate here, but what if it’s genuinely a coincidence…? I thought their pattern looks quite different from yours, and of course I know idea theft is a thing as well, but there’s no way of knowing whether or not an idea was stolen. There are a looot of crochet designers out there, and more popping up every day. It feels unreasonable to assume a relatively simple idea couldn’t have also shown up elsewhere in a different person at a different time with a different way?
I hope I’m not coming off so negative, I absolutely don’t stand for theft and I myself have reported a stolen pattern before. I just think there could be more nuance to it in this case.

That being said, I’m really sorry that this is your first impression of ribblr. This is a wonderful community and whether your pattern was stolen or not, it’s an unfortunate introduction to this platform.
I hope you know ribblr is a safe and supportive space, and I say this after having commented my own thoughts about the theft situation because I genuinely feel safe enough in this community to do so. So please don’t take my words as an attack either, I simply think in a lot of nuance sometimes. I hope your experience on ribblr now on is positive <3

Oh my god, I am horrified that this is your first impression of this community! I am so sorry! I personally have not heard of you, or your patterns, because I am not on youtube, insta, ect. But I know the post everyone is talking about. This is a horrible thing to experience, someone claiming your idea is theirs. Expecially the way they were talking about it. I hope you stick around after this experience, even if it wasn’t the greatest first impression. I will totally end up crocheting your star baby if it ever makes it to ribblr! The idea is so cool! I would also take the actions stated above, and report the tester call. If it ends up becoming a pattern in their shop, I would report the pattern itself. But hopefully it doesn’t go that far. Good luck!

Thank you for the warm welcome and for the support! I so appreciate that. I’m glad the vast majority of the community at Ribblr is against pattern theft! The Star Baby pattern is currently free on my YouTube channel (named SweetSofties) but I’ll try to add it to Ribblr here as well after I figure out how to do it! Thank you for the support, friend. I so appreciate it. :sparkling_heart:

Ofc, nobody deserves to be stolen from. Its like if I were to go and steal lets say… your favorite armchair. Unacceptable.

I was so disappointed to see it! And thank you, I’m so appreciative to hear that. Hugs, friend!

They posted their ā€œoriginalā€ prototype, which had the same number of rounds and stitches in the main body of the star and limbs as mine. The difference was in the hat, but the overall look was uncanny in its similarity. It was made as a cone shaped hat, jsut like mine. I posted my pattern in July and it went viral, and she’s saying her near exact copy is her own? Her ā€œnewā€ star babies are just mini versions of the Star baby, which is why you can ā€œsee differencesā€. I work very hard to design, test, publish, and share hundreds of my designs for free, and this is what some people choose to do.

Agree. Pattern theft should be called out and shut down when it happens!
