From the beginning, trying to remember increases while working the round using numbers became confusing to me so I substituted with letters. I use this to help me remember the pattern of increases as I am working them in the round.
Hopefully it might help you! It’s a habit with me now.

Awesome! One thing I love to stress with crochet is that there is ALWAYS more than 1 right way to do things. Do what works for you! It is supposed to be enjoyable, after all.

I agree with everyone else who’s commented. I would get so confused by it, 
. I’m a numbers person, so I’m constantly thinking of multiplication when doing rounds with increases.
