Crochet:
- When doing amigurumi flip your project inside out after the first few rows to get neater stitches
- In Amigurumi, invisible decreases look better than regular decreases
How to do an invisible decrease
insert Hook in Front loop only of the next two stitches, pull up a loop, yarn over, through both loops on hook
- Stuff little bits at a time, so you get an even filling
- Yarn over and yarn under give different results! (for amigurumi at least)
- When making amigurumi, use a hook 2 sizes smaller than the one listed on the label for your yarn so there are no gaps or loose stitches.
- Always pull apart your stuffing before stuffing this will minimize the risk of your amigurumi having bumps
- Use a small hook and loose tension instead of a big hook and tight tension , this will help prevent wrist pain
- Use knitting needles or ami sticks to hold your pieces together when sewing so its not crooked
- Don’t put safety eyes in as soon as the pattern says to. Wait a row or 2 so that you can be sure the placement is right I cant put eyes on right to save my life
- Use invisible FO instead of regular FO on amigurumi.
How to do invisible FO
Cut yarn and pull it through loop, thread to a needle and pull it under the st after the next st. Then pull it under the FLO of the original loop!
- To get your stitches to line up in the round, work in the FLO
Knit:
- Never, NEVER, knit in the dark (experienced)
Other:
- If you are making something for a child under the age of 3 do not use safety eyes. They are a major choking hazard.
- Make sure you have enough yarn to make your project, playing yarn chicken is NOT FUN
