Totoro Patterns

Hi everyone! Just to let you all know, I have taken down the two Totoro patterns from my shop. I published them with the intention of letting people use the makes as gifts or for themselves, but I think to be safe and to avoid copyright infringement, it’s best to take these two patterns down. I also won’t be making any patterns of characters in the future for the same reasons. Sorry about this :sweat: I know I only released one of them very recently, and I’m also kind of disappointed because I did spend time working on it, but I hope you all understand!

We understand!! <3 (also I think it was a good idea to take them down, but there are still lots of totoro patterns out there without any permission for using the character :pensive:)

Thanks Coco! :) Yeahhh, I think a lot of people might not know about the rules when it comes to this sort of thing. Hopefully that’ll change though

don’t worry about it! i was gonna make a pattern for a character before i was warned of copyright infringement too

I don’t know I haven’t looked into it, but I thought if you were giving it for free, it wasn’t a problem but copyright law is complicated so I’d have to look at it again to find out

I think some companies are still really strict about using their characters though, even if I’m not earning from it :/ Maybe it’s not actually a problem, but I think it’s better to be safe than sorry

I think that losing money is only part of the companies’ concern. Their image and their reputation are also important to them

If someone steals their image and does a really tacky version of it, then this reflects badly on them and on their reputation in their industry
