“Email me with any questions I am Happy to help!”
*Me, emails two different designers about two different designs I’m stuck on, hasn’t heard back in 48hrs now.(Not ribbler designers) It’s so annoying. I feel like a lot of newer patterns writers get tired half way through pattern writing and start combining steps, assuming we know where they are going with stitches, and assume we all are super comfortable reading patterns. They start strong and get muddled half way through. I don’t write patterns , but I imagine it’s time intensive. It’s just frustrating not being able to finish projects while waiting for people to respond.
I can understand the frustration. It is quite hard when you first start designing patterns but it should be as accessible as possible for testers and creators alike. Hopefully they will get back to you soon with some help.
I can understand too, hopefully they’re just busy/different time zones and can’t answer right away and don’t just completely ignore the questions
i totally understand
i hope they get back to you soon!
If it would be helpful, feel free to share a screenshot of just the confusing section and a general description of what you’re making. Maybe someone can help figure it out or has seen a similar direction in another pattern.
That is so frustrating! I know everyone is busy, but I try to answer questions about patterns as quickly as I can. Happened to me with a lace shawl, I never heard back from the designer, do I tried to contact a couple of ways.
If it’s on Ravelry, sometimes there are helpful notes from others or you can try reaching out to others who have made that pattern already. I was able to put the pattern down for a couple of days then come back to it with fresh eyes and figure out what that section meant, luckily.
Writing patterns is hard and can feel like a slog at a certain point, especially for something long! However that’s no excuse for glossing over important directions. That’s why the test phase is so important. It’s also one of the reasons why I always approve at least one or two new testers for my designs. You need fresh eyes and perspectives to find things that are not written well.
So I am supposed to be making this
But I really don’t understand the pattern. The designer did get back to me and answered two of my questions then stopped replying. I am still confused ,Which is …whatever. I found a YouTube tutorial for a collar. I am making that with the same number of stitches as my hood and I plan to just attach it in place.
Too bad the first one didn’t work out, it doesn’t even look like it should be that complicated to make (with good directions lol ).
Glad you found an alternate design!
I think it’s just me. I’m new to crochet and pattern reading. If I could get a video or picture step by step for the first two three rows. I could continue on my own
