I have recently learned to knit and I have tension problems with ribbing. As you can see in the image, the v in the image is a lot looser than the normal knit stitches. How do I make the tension the same on both parts or is that just how it ends up.

Switching between knit and purl can make knit stitches bigger. Practice will neaten your ribbing. You could also try purling continental style. There are lots of good YouTube videos on continental knitting.

Try switching to a smaller needle size when you get to the ribbed part!

I had that same problem and switching to smaller needles helped! I usually go down two sizes for ribbing.
