Update for testing patterns

I have a suggestion for pattern testing. What if there was a “suggest edit” section?

How it could work…

The suggest edit section could be a button at the bottom of the pattern. When clicked it’d have the sections of the pattern (head, body, sleeves, etc. ) with a textbox under it, in which you would input the change and submit to the designer. Not all the sections have to be filled in. It can also be incorporated somehow with groupchat so the designer doesn’t get messages about the same thing.

Pros vs. cons

Pros- avoid long complicated messages

Wouldnt have to screenshot, show the changes then send to testing group chat.

Would work without a group chat

Cons- I can’t think of any

What do you think? Would this be overcomplicating testing or would it be helpful? Thoughts?

I think that would be very helpful.

Group chats help so designer doesn’t get a bunch of the same messages. Also let’s testers know what others have found.

For me, a group chat is an integral part of the testing process in which the designer and the testers can communicate with each other. They can discuss, amongst themselves, different techniques, wording, unclear instructions and builds a supportive and helpful community.

Using a group chat to communicate any issues with a pattern, keeps the communication and feedback organised and all in one place. It enables the designer to ask a question once (addressing all testers) instead of having to send a message to each individual tester, asking the same question.

I completely understand where your coming from, however, not all feedback is going to be long and complicated.

Sometimes it’s necessary to explain your thought process, suggestions or ideas and it does get long on occasion.

With your idea/suggestion, I wonder if it is more suited to minor corrections such as spelling, grammar and other straight forward feedback. There would still need to be a way in which the tester can provide more specific and detailed feedback when needed. This makes me think that it won’t necessarily cut back on the long complicated messages, just reformat it and deliver it in a different way.

I’m content with the way things are. :orange_heart:

I think it would be very helpful. The ‘what to change part’ could go in this section and the tester could put the explanation as to why they want this in the groupchat. So the designer knows exactly what the tester is suggesting

Someone it’s helpful to see other feedback, then you can either focus on a different part, or something I don’t know what it should look like, and usually other have finished so I can you there pictures as a reference.

Suggest and edit is a one time thing, what if the owner needed to talk about the suggested edit?

I think group chat are pretty important to testing, and I would personally be slightly hesitant to make patterns and frustration during if I couldn’t use that for testing
