Or maybe for like a week or two after the username change, your old one could be like under your new username in parentheses or something to help people get used to it!

Yeah, there is a limit. I don’t believe there’s any other way to change your user.

Well we could just have like a community agreement, say as I’ve done, you set a status for a week with the 
and “just changed from _______”?
If everyone started doing it this could work…?

It would be best if user mentions were only ever stored in the backend as their UID (unique id) and just the display changed. It’s bonkers that they would build a system in the first place that allowed an error like that to even happen
