So I’m watching Vaiana right now and I clearly remember that I called her moana so was it always Vaiana and I have bad memory or they changed it from Moana to Vaiana?

It was Moana! I dont keep up with disney but i definitely grew up with Moana! Maybe they changed it?

Where I live they also translate Moana to Vaiana… I have yet to find out why as other movies titled as just the name of a character get the same name…

Okay I googled it it’s Vaiana for the European theatres;
it’s mostly because Disney couldn’t get a global hold of Moana as a trademark (in Spain there’s a cosmetic trademark, there’s also some others around but you get the point)
They changed it to Vaiana since it keeps a similar meaning to Moana (water spring instead of deep ocean), keeping the core water aspect of the character
