#VarietyCrochetChallenge

I’d like to start a little community challenge to honor the creativity of crochet designers that keep coming up with unique ideas how to convert their inspirations into awesome crochet patterns. Like with drawing it always fascinates me how the same motif can look completly different in different styles or just with each artists own touch:star_struck:
Like these two plushies I recently made. Both are deers on all fours, both are adorable, but the grade of abstaction is very different:

I challenge:
@AbiLovesZeCrochet @IMadeIt and @Lunascrochet
to share two or more significantly different makes of the same motif they have made already or can make for this challenge in - lets say - the next two month. The motif doesn’t have to be as specific as mine, it can be just one animal, like two very different frogs, or one object, like two crochet bracelets or baskets. And nominate three more persons of course:slightly_smiling_face: #VarietyCrochetChallenge

Let me know how you like this idea, feel free to start your own “nomination chain” and share more deer patterns that are again different from the two I already made in the comments. I have quite some yarn left over to make more:grin::heart_hands:

This is such a good idea, here’s mine:

This is a pattern from @thefeltique

This is a pattern I made:

They’re both cats but are different styles, although on was using fluffy yarn and one is with acrylic yarn.

Here are 2 that I did for @Craftsrme67 latest tester call

Same pattern but one with modifications because I wanted to make a macaroni penguin.

I Love her patterns because they are so easy to make them your own.

I like the idea! Maybe we can show what we mean by adding a unique touch of our own to create a new pattern?@IMadeIt what do you say?

Slightly comparing apples with oranges, but I’ll count it as it is at least the same grey yarn:
This dolphin I made a while ago:

is a very different design compared to this classic whale:

or this shark:

which are a similar style (although different animals as well, so I hope it gets clear what I mean about the dolphin being different). All are cute though:smiling_face:

I feel like you can learn a lot from making different crochet styles. From finding out how much you can abstract a design, to make it faster to make and possibly even cuter then that animal naturally is, up to crocheting something as close to nature (or whatever the design inspiration is) as possible. Which again reminds me of abstract vs realistic painting. Crochet design really is a form of art:purple_heart::yarn:

Great example! It’s fun that your design is more realistic in the shaping of head and neck but more fantasy style overall. I hadn’t thought of that interesting crossover before:+1:

Wait is this a cat playing with yarn as a yarn holder? Or could at least be one with a little improvising to keep the yarn in place and able to rotate? How adorable is that?
Can I find this pattern anywhere?

The yarn ball is sewn to the cat. I used this book for the patterns.
