Wearable Art

I spent the last two weeks working on this sweater. I’m an artist first and a knitter second so I’ve been working for a long time to figure out how to make my art in this medium. Finally, I came up with my “Nature Looking Back” series of drawings and created this sweater based off of my favorite drawing from the series.

I’ve already started another sweater with a different drawing from the series and am so excited!

What do you think about this concept of “wearable art”?

a very long time ago, I had a knitting chart book for inserting art into your knitting, it was 50 classical art charts like the Mona Lisa and David. I have no idea what happened to that book.

The last time I remember using it, I made a blanket with a Mucha print on it (love love love Mucha) but that was nearly 20 years ago… the book was from the very early '80’s… back when we knew how to do sweater culture :stuck_out_tongue:

I think the concept of fusing them is wonderful; I love seeing fiber arts used as a medium for displaying original art or even famous works. And that it’s a functional piece as well is just a bonus! Beautifully done!:clap::clap:The vivid colors really draw your eye in, too!

Eager to see others from your Nature Looking Back series :sparkling_heart:

I had that one too! But that is not the one with Mucha in it, I don’t think… that book has actual sweaters in it, the one I had just had charts to add to any sweater/blanket…I gues you could have used it for other things but it had the ratios for knit stitches in mind when wrtten

Thank you :see_no_evil: I’ve been slowly working on another one since but it’s much thinner yarn so it’s taking forever!
