What are the go to YouTube tutorials for absolute beginners?

I have a friend in Maine anxious to learn and asked me since I know how. What are the best go to videos for the absolute beginner, like this is a foundation chain type stuff? I know there are big names with super easy video tutorials, just wondering what they were.
Thanks in advance my experts! :sparkles:

I learned mostly by watching Bella Coco tutorials on YouTube. I like her because because all of her videos she does left and right-handed and goes step by step. Her earlier videos should cover the very basics, they were very helpful to me.

Kristen Omdahl!
The only person that has actually made me want to crochet something instead of knitting
She used to be on the PBS show, Knit and Crochet now? , daily? , something like that years ago

I usually send people to mooglyblog (Tamara Kelly) or oombawkadesigncrochet (Rhondda Mol) I really feel like they take the true novice into account and make their video tutorials very clear and easy to understand. They’re always my go-to’s.

I like Crochet Crowd and Moogly. Two top reasons for me are the tutorials are closed captioned because they publish on YouTube, Both also have low enough voices for me to hear.
Additionally, I looked for those with good lighting, stitches can be seen, and free from irritating music .

Best thing I can recommend for a beginner would be a The Woobles kit, it’s how I learned and they’re honestly so cute:sob: (unsponsored ofc)

I looked up Woobles, so expensive for a kit! In my
Opinion anyway.

Bella Coco for me. Everything explained simply and videos easy to see what she’s doing

my first tut was a cat ear beanie, from then on ive seen countless tuts but I always return to “Hooked by Robin” for new stitches or cute things to make.

i think most people would tell a beginer to try make a scarf or smth because they are easy but my personal advice would be find a beginner project you like and give it a go & i think ribblr would also be a good starting point for someone new cause they explain you the stitches with videos and you can learn the abbreviations as you go!

as someone who couldn’t read a pattern after years of crocheting with videos and no one to teach me , i think ribblr is probably one of the best options rn

Sorry for the delay in responding. Honestly that depends on which stitch you want to learn. I’d type in “Learn how to crochet” then either moogly or oombawka, Kim Guzman. Or if they’re not to your liking just watch a few “utter beginner crochet tutorials” to find the teacher you like best. Everyone learns better in slightly different ways/styles so there’s no real right or wrong. I just like Tamara & Rhondda, but that’s me.
