What Are Your Most Common Types of Projects?

What are the types of projects all of you work on the most? Do you switch between types?

I have realized that I often go through phases of wanting to work on one type of project, then putting those on hold to work on a different type. For example, I’ll be making clothing type projects, then amigurumi, then maybe switch to bags or coasters. I was curious if anyone else goes through something similar, or if they focus more on one type like amigurumi, clothes, or blankets?

I like to create blankets and amigurumi. I do go through periods of wanting to make certain things though. Create whatever you want, whenever

I tend to do a lot of amigurumi/plushies. I sometimes do other stuff like pillows bags and bookmarks and I’m even doing a jacket right now

I tend to jump around in what I make but I only bother posting amigurimi since nothing else seems to get any interest.

Gotta switch project types when my hands start hurting. Amigurmi, garments and blankets for example all tend to have a different tension and movement to them, so it helps to switch it up. It also helps to use different yarn weights.

I definitely want to try and do pillows and jackets at some point. Those always seem so cool when they’re done!

Thank you! I really enjoy mixing it up a lot and dabbling in as many types of projects as possible, but I can see the appeal of having a certain type of project(s) to stick to

I normally stck to amigurumi and cute things like bucket hats, but I just mainly do stuff for gifts so its easy to ask someone what their favorite animal is then make it for them

I started out with flat crochet too! I started learning about 3 years ago and around year 2 I figured out the MR and started to make amigurumi.

That’s interesting. I’ve always had the most interest in seeing and trying clothing projects but I can see why amigurumi would be your go-to to post. So many people seem to flock to it because they can be very cute!

Do you have a favorite project from each type you’ve done?

That’s so nice! I make a lot for friends and family too. My boyfriend has a lot of small amigurumi scattered throughout the other decorations in his room

That makes sense. I’ve had times where I’ve had to switch projects because the yarn and hook were too small or too big and my hands started to cramp. Even though I get small hooks with bigger handles, the tiny projects just get too much.

That’s so nice! Christmas is always crazy for me because I’ll make a lot of presents for family and friends and it takes forever. It’s nice that you’ll give them the ability to pick whatever they want as gifts!

It is similar to what I do: I usually start working on one piece but even before I finish it I want to start another project and so I always switch between coasters, bags, keychains and amigurumi and even a vest once
