With some of those yarns, you can skip over the puffy parts and just crochet with the skinnier yarn so that the fuzzy pops out of either side and make a nice texture, but you could also try to crochet/knit with every part of it.

What size hook would I use?

It’s hard to tell from the picture, but if you’re just doing the skinny part I would probably use something around a 3mm. It also depends if you’re doing amigurumi or rows with it, try to get a hook that fits on the yarn loosely for rows, and a hook that is smaller for amigurumi.

you could add it next to another yarn and crochet with both, adding a pop of color.

RAYNNNEEE i had some of that yarn in pink and what i did was to the door for my bedroom, cut strips from the top of the doorframe to almost the floor (a lil above so less of a trippy hazard) and hung multiple going down kinda like streamers to walk through whenever i go to my room SO FUNNN
