What is/are the biggest mistake(s) that you made as a beginner crocheter? (Or knit) Just wondering!

My biggest mistakes were

  1. Only doing slip stitches :face_with_peeking_eye:
  2. Only going in front loops :dotted_line_face:
  3. Never flipping my project inside out :face_with_bags_under_eyes:

I’m wondering, what mistakes YOU have made! Share a silly story, or just list the things (like I did)

Happy Crocheting!

Mine were not flipping amigurumi out and thinking sc was the only stitch. I even started a blanket before I knew there were more stitches. I frogged the whole thing the other day and started again using dc

That is so funny! It is very amusing to me when beginners start with king sized blankets that are sc!!!

I used to only go in the back loop also

at the very very beginning i would accidentally decrease and drop stitches without realizing, and then later on i found out i’d been doing invisible decreases wrong lol ><

Oh boy, can I see a picture of something you’ve made?

yes, you should flip your projects inside out, or have you crochet working from right to left on the side towards you! if that is confusing, maybe someone else can explain it better!

I didn’t know I was supposed to flip my amigurumi inside out either, I was so confused how people did bobble stitches :sob:

I was a just a mess when I was learning. LOL

I just had a hard time of it. I actually quit a few times, but somehow thankfully always came back.

I definitely had a hard time with my rows getting wider and wider. And then wider. I had NO idea why at the time, but it was typical me, happened every singje time.

What I think I had the most trouble with, and that took me FOREVER to learn, was I just could not figure out for sure where to place the stitches.

And as a beginner I was not doing any fancy front loop or back loop stitches either.

Just with the regular ones I just had a tremendously hard time figuring it out. Even though I look learnt from watching beglnner YouTubes where I could follow each step slowly …for months and months as soon as I closed the video I’d be lost.

Half the time (likely less)I probably got it right and the rest of the time I was trying to crochet into some stitch from the last row.

Took me forever to really get it:grin:

But of course I caught on eventually as will always happen if you don’t give up.:slightly_smiling_face:
