What is your opinion on novelty yarns ?

Hi I was wondering what are your reviews on novelty yarns such as furry yarns , fluffy yarns like Bernat Pipsqueak, or eyelash yarns like fun fur ? I personally don’t mind working with them

I’ve only ever used fluffy yarns like feels like bliss, and I actually really enjoy using it

The only REALY fuzzy yarn that I have actually finished a project with is feels like bliss. I have heard from so many people that is really hard to work with, but I was able to make a dragon out of it just fine!(couldn’t see or count any of the stiches, but it didn’t bother me!) I have this other yarn, that is just plain fur , and I CAN NOT work with it for the LIFE of Me!!:sob: I’ve tried so many times, but it’s just too hard!

I have an impossible time with fur yarn not wanting to be fluffy on the right side, only the wrong. So it’s really annoying but when it does come out ok, I love it. It’s just so hard to work with

My opinion is that they are overpriced!

I really love them but they are on the more expensive side.

Several have their uses and others I don’t even know why they thought it was a good idea to make or get, like eyelash usually is used in knit and/or combined with another visible yarn as a extra detail

I myself have never used Bernat Pipsqueak, it looks like a usable yarn for certain projects but I don’t know what texture it is, and if you have texture sensitivities and don’t like the feel, then it won’t be usable for you because it’s a fluffy/furry yarn that you need to feel for the stitches.

I personally love Faux Fur yarn, but would never recommend it to a beginner, because again you need to know enough crochet and you HAVE to feel for the stitches which is very aggravating if your just starting to learn, but if you aren’t, it’s so daft and furry it’s like petting freshly washed and groomed cat or bunny, and makes my serotonin go weee :chart_increasing: for a while.

I think that the weird popcorn puff one is basically useless for most everything except that one blanket tutorial thing that got popular, and a few specific instances where similar to eyelash yarn and yet so far from it would have its uses increased when combined with another yarn.

and you won’t catch me buying any of the yarn skeins that became popular for a little bit that are like 8 different yarns in one skein, nope, not happening, I don’t even like the texture of half the types of yarn in the skein

That’s my take, I’m autistic with sensory sensitivity, I do soft I don’t do not soft, so that’s my personal take on them
