Its because its a yarn from the 70s…
It looked like one of your whites was one-
They’re odd colours sometimes. This neon yellow is a perfect example of a discontinued colour.
The dyes could potentially be toxic, but whats more worrisome is the material itself for it being incredibly flammable.
But it’s safe to use if kept away from fire, kind of like camping tents and kid’s pajamas.
*They also DO feel really odd. They can be scraggly.
But wool is also scraggly.
Orlon fiber doesnt shed like wool does.

Oh wow! I’ll definitely look into it I haven’t really felt or opened the bags yet but that’s really interesting. If it is potentially toxic I probably won’t use it just to be safe, because rather be safe than sorry right. Could you circle the photo of the balls and see which one you think is most likely what you think it is, I’m just not really familiar with the yarn so if I have an idea of which one it might be I can figure it out a bit better.

These are the two i would double check.
Orlon 1. Burns and 2. Doesn’t shed
The melting point is at a weird temperature for orlon fiber, since potholders can be made out of it. It can handle up to about 400°F(?) before melting.

Ok thank you for all the information I’ll try to see and check just to make sure it’s not bad, but I’ll do some research. Hopefully it’s not the yarn because I felt the yarn and the cream one is super soft and doesn’t feel old. And the blue one feels like normal acrylic yarn but I’ll search up the brand you are thinking and see if they come in these shades.
