What trend doesn't suit you?

I have to be honest I do often mention that I’m pretty sure I have hEDS, but to be fair, I did have a Physical Therapist verify and tell me to have my doctor do an official workup (and I never list it as a diagnoses, only say I think I have it)… But self-diagnosed mental disorders is another pet peeve of mine, but especially when it’s for attention/ think it’s cute… I wish having anxiety was cute, but it sure doesn’t feel it to me or anyone I know with it :woman_shrugging:t3:

Yes, exactly! My social anxiety was not self diagnosed, I went to therapy for a little while. I dont go anymore because of fhe cost. I hate seeing people faking panic/anxiety attacks for attention. Its not ‘cute’ to have an anxiety or panick attack over too much people being around. I transferred a class because I had an anxiety attack in there from all the people, its not fun or cute.

Cropped anything, and fanfiction(i don’t read it and don’t want to join the trend)

I don’t really like cropped stuff cuz im uncomfortable with showing my body.

Tic Tok I know ….a lot of people love it but it’s one thing I’ve got zero desire to join.
Short skirts, shorts or crop tops….
Crocs shoes they are popular here and a big no for me lol.

For me I would have to say makeup. I wear lipgloss bit foundation and other full coverage makeup feels heavy and uncomfortable to me. Plus eye makeup always makes my eyes sting or gets all over my glasses, its the worst! I love watching how creative others are woth thier makeup designs but it’s just not for me.

For me no crop tops or dying my hair. Nothing against those who like those things it’s just not for me.

as a personal opinion (not sure about others, but people at my school do this A LOT) i hate white Nike socks and would really not like a pair

I used to wear them, but they overdo it these days. I mean the whole leg is ripped out of them sometimes :face_with_peeking_eye:

Preach sister! I totally agree! To me, thats like if someone was pretending to be blind or something. Its stupid to fake having an ailment or disorder just to get benefits. They’re keeping someone in need from getting what they need.

Yes! Exactly! This bothers me so much when people go faking anxiety or make fun of disorder. Its not fun or cute, I especially hate it when people pretend to have depression and people validate the person faking but not the person actaully suffering. Its so dumb, and not cute or fun.

Tbh, i dont use it, but i dont like the idea of not knowing what someone will post next. Some of the younger people on there hop on with barely anything on for 5 seconds of fame, but that’s exactly what gets them abducted.

Oh jeez, I didn’t even think of things like that I’m terms of “trends”. As a neurodiverse and mentally ill person, this one is terrible. I’m sad to say that frankly, it’s not even a recent trend? Iterations of this kind of behavior has been around since I was pretty young. Frankly, people have a pretty poor understanding of “invisible” health issues and disabilities, and, honestly, even the more visible ones. People’s cruelty can have such range from meaning well but being woefully ignorant and insensitive and straight up mocking and being incredibly awful.

Honestly, I think short form video platforms really have made it worse and more widely spread. :frowning:

Yes! Short video platforms like tiktok, have a bunch of those videos. It really isnt a recent trend, but its not a dying trend either.

As a person who has had anxiety it’s definitely something if someone didn’t understand and made fun of that would be awful. I’ve since healed it so I handle my stress way better than I used to. So I completely agree with what was said above even about mental illness. I had bad postpartum after having my oldest son and that was rough.

I don’t get Planking. Like, I know some folks think it’s funny or interesting… I don’t understand it.

I have kind of my gramma’s mentality of ‘if it ain’t practical, don’t do it.’ So a lot of trends don’t make sense to me. (I have no idea how someone thought doing anything with tide pods other than washing laundry was a good idea, but… /sigh)

For artistic trends, I’m going to go with that one where they put spraypaint and other paint on water and then dip stuff in it. (Hydrodipping?) This is… mostly just because I have an aversion to sticky things and stuff between my fingers.

@LittleCreatures @CosmikEluminatedC tbh, I would consider myself all-around healthy. Like I don’t have major difficiencies or illnesses, although I did have a food sensitivity as a child, (which I have grown out of). I try my best to be an understanding person and to help others; if I was honest, I really don’t know what it’s like having anxiety, or post traumatic illnesses or anything like that. So I listen to people who have struggles like this, so I can kind of understand and learn to be even more supportive. I may not ever have experienced what you all go through, but I would like to be more educated on these types of things

lulu lemon… Everyone’s obsessed with it, but i can get the same quality shorts at walmart for $5!! Also, the skirt shorts, i don’t understand what people see in them. Stanley’s, but for teens. Kids in my grade are lugging those huge things around and i’m just like- you probably only drink 1/4 of that per day s what’s the point of having the huge one? Like get a small one that actually fits in your backpack… i’m done lol

agreed so much!! people don’t even understand how anxiety really is anyways like it’s not “i’m nervous so i twiddle my thumbs…” it’s so much more! and i HATE (hate hate!) when people think they have ocd. They’re like “oh that’s uneven you’re triggering my ocd…. That’s not the same coloring omg change it.” like that not ocd!! I saw a video the other day of a person pretending to have tarets (idk how to spell it) and then someone with actual tarets added onto it and was explaining how offensive ut was (and they were having tics while explaining it!) and it was so sad. I have severe anxiety and social anxiety, and ocd, so i know the feeling.
