I am not sure about the cracked egg but, but your not allowed to used other patterns just the ones they provided, I am pretty sure.

Could I crochet the egg and then add stuff to the egg to turn it into an animal or does it have to stay an egg? Cause I have a really cool idea in mind but I’m not sure if it would count.

Meet our new SPARKLY EGGY HATCHLING FRIEND. I took the regular pattern and added a few extra details such as wings, a neon beak, sparkly eyes, velvet floof and I freehanded a sparkly egg bed for our new eggy friend.
