Sorry, amigurami where you have to use wire to hold the shape.

Oh okay, thanks! I’m curious how did you place the wire in the ship? Do you happen to have a photo?

Just curious what type and size of wire you used? I find 18 gauge floral wire works really well.

I get my wire in the jewelry section at Michaels. You’ll want a medium gauge size
That can be bendable but solid. Id stick to something higher then a 12 gauge and suggest Sanding end down and wrapping it close to the main part so it doesn’t snag the yarn olus using a floral tape to cover.
I just finished making a amigurumi glasses and wrapped them in yarn and i believe i used a 18 gauge but i cant remember as ive had it a long time.

I used a 16, because when i used 14 before it was too weak to hold it. I’m using jewelry wire,
and i fed it through after stuffing. That’s what the pattern called for. I’ll get a picture in a bit.

I usually use a pipe cleaner, and it works well on what i have made.
I seem some people glue the wire down to a side (of the inside of course)

Hmmm… good ideas! If i have to, i can redo the saucer and try those! Thank you!

For some wire makes, you need to have heavier wire, or several pieces of wire twisted and wrapped together to strengthen it. I’ve had a similar issue in the past. I had to frog part of a FINISHED project to redo the wiring to get it to stay upright. But always make sure the end(s) are wrapped for safety!

YES! This is VERY important! And agree sometimes you might need more than one

Luckily, this is goin to a grown man lol! But i will most likely do just that, frog, wrap and redo! Thank you all for your help!!

You want a gauge of wire thats bendable but solid. I would try a lower gauge wire or a med hard wire and with wire the higher the gauge the thinner it is. So a 22 guage wire will be softer and thinner then say a 12 gauge. I wire wrap crystals once in a while this was something i learned quickly. with making amigurumi pipe cleaners aren’t enough the wire is way too flimsy. If your trying to shape this ship then I would recommend looking into different wires that people use to wire wrap and research.
Id say a med/hard wire would be probably what your looking at and make a base frame so its like a skeleton and crochet around it if that makes sense.

You can look for that gauge wire in the floral section.
Pipe cleaners are a joke for what you’re trying to do.
