i feel like the skin always lasts longer when you make other things and not just a blanket lol which is weird to me cause you’d like the blanket would take up more yarn

yea i agree, even when i first started, i managed to get a dinosaur, 2 hats, and 2 little octopuses out of one skein (plus my tension was super loose so these turned out pretty big)

I think you might be crocheting into only the back loop, just saying this to help you improve! Even with this, they look wrather adorable!
To make sure you are going in both loops just make sure you have a little v on your hook
