Yarn for a granny square blanket!!

I am crocheting a granny square blanket: know what I’m doing. What I haven’t figured out is how much and what yarn I need. I want to spend £20 - £25 pounds and it must be very soft, cheap and washable. DK weight.I need a blush, mustard, green blue but light, dark navy and white for edging and joining. 12inch squares 4 across and 6 down so 24 in total. How much yarn do I need???

Thank you so so much!!!

For a basic single bed size with 24 blocks you’ll probably need approx 10-15 balls of 100g of DK.

I would highly recommend that you seek out your local yarn shop and support an independent business. James C Brett, Wendy, Emu and King Cole do some really nice acrylic double knit, and will probably be somewhere between £1.90 and £2.50 per ball depending on where you buy from.

As an indie yarn shop owner myself I can tell you that you’ll get a lot more knowledge and advice from an indie owner than you would if you visit the likes of Hobbycraft or Amazon for your Yarn purchase.
