I made this rat, its supposed to be Remi from ratatouille. This is what it looks like
I don’t know how I would go about making the hat that Remi has. I tried making a tube then a flat circle and sewing them together. That didn’t turn out how I would like it too. The next attempt, I tried just making it one piece. I started with a magic ring of 8 hdc, and for round 2 I hdc, Inc to get 12. For the next few rows I was hdc all around and it still didn’t turn out how I would like it too. Any ideas to help?

this seems like a pattern that might work! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0b3zRa2x3yg

If you want a hat with “lines” up the side, you could try crocheting rows instead of rounds, because that causes a natural “wave” or “ripple”, then either sew it or crochet the top and bottom of the rectangle together (vertically), and finish off with a flat circle that you sew onto the edge
If you crochet it together, you could potentially pick up stitches from the side and work an inward circle instead of creating a separate piece for the top of the hat.
To get larger “ripples” with less space inbetween, you could make the “right side” with hdc and the “wrong side” with sc, for example.
I hope it helps
