Acrylic or cotton

Hi guys. I recently got a puppy and I want to make a basket for both of my dogs toys. I don’t know if it would be better to use acrylic or cotton yarn to make the baskets. I would like to be able to wash it and I know both fibers wash quite easily. Anyway which one would you use.

Cotton is your best bet for a basket or something thats gonna be used a lot that needs to stay

Probably cotton, I think it holds up a little better

That’s what I thought but I was looking at basket patterns and some of them said acrylic

If the dogs would have access to the basket, I’d probably make it with cotton held double (or triple) for the extra durability against puppy play
That being said, I recently crocheted a basket using acrylic yarn held triple and it’s super sturdy, so you really could go either way :woman_shrugging:

I have made a basket with the acrylic but it doesn’t really holds its shape well. I think cotton is a bit rigid I guess than the acrylic so it might be better. Hope it helps

Yes, cotton is softer and more durable. I think that is the right call. Especially with puppies!
