I know Ribblr is a yarn arts/fabric arts platform, but it would really be cool to have Kandi as one of the official crafts of the community!
Whats Kandi?
Some people refer to it as beads, which isn’t wrong, and neither is Kandi.
Have you ever had a friendship bracelet with beads and letter beads on it? That’s Kandi:)
Why?
I have met people online, and they claim were they live, it is more affordable to buy beads and string than yarn, hooks and needles. I also have friends who have more experience in Kandi than other arts, and would not want to have to learn a whole new skill just to meet people and learn online.
This would be really cool.
If people like this idea, can we get Ribblr to see it?
Hey! I just wanted to let you know that you can request for ribblr to make a personal space specifically for Kandi (to see what a personal space is just click on “spaces” at the top of the home page, scroll down to the pinkish-purple icon and you can see all the other personal spaces!) If you want to make your own you can message ribblr about it and they will decide whether they will make the space for you or not! Also, ribblr is a crafting space, so as long as you put posts of Kandi in general and not in the crochet space I think ribblr would allow you to do it!( @Ribblr pls correct me if I am wrong about being able to post crafts that aren’t related specifically to crochet in the general space)
Yeah this could be so great! Especially because one of the things Ribblr is most known for is the patterns and the publishing process. I don’t make kandi but I’m pretty sure there are different patterns for different makes like the things @FrogOnAMushroom showed. The format of the patterns would probably be completely different but after figuring out something and a lot of trial and error I’m sure it could work. Plus, Ribblr can now make patterns with videos so that could probably help a lot! @ribbot you should consider!!! :D
OMG YESSSSS I LOVE KANDI! I make Kandi for my plushies (and myself) and I think being able to post about it, and even make patterns (?) for it would be so cool!
Okay so correct if I’m understanding you wrong, (pls don’t take what I’m saying as rude or anything, I’m just explaining it in detail so there are no misunderstandings ) on ribblr there are different “Spaces” which means different sections of the community posts! The only reason difference spaces exist is to keep order and preventing all posts from just being jumbled up together! For example, if you click on a crochet post there will be a green icon on the top that says “crochet”, if what you want to post isn’t crochet you post it in the “general spaces” or the corresponding space, (tester calls go in the tester space, knitting goes in the knitting space) this makes it so that if you are looking for posts with a certain general topic you can find it easily! BUT there is also a thing called “personal spaces” which can be private OR public, for example, the “art creative corner space” and many other craft based spaces that people on ribblr requested to be made! What I was trying to say is that you could request for ribblr to create a public personal space focused around Kandi!
Oh, and I think you misunderstood ! I wasn’t talking about this specific post! You posted it the right space, I was just saying that you could probably post Kandi in the general space as a last resort if ribblr doesn’t allow you to have a specific space for Kandi
