That sucks that you had to frog it 
but I will say, crocheting on an airplane while watching/listening to something is the bomb. Last time I did that, it was for a 11hr flight (I think)

It was loop and thread idk what size yarn but it recommended a size 5 hook but I used a 4.5mm hook
