So whenever I crochet I tend to ignore the suggested hook size for the pattern and use my 4mm hook. I’m making the Taylor Swift 87 beanie and it’s suggested that you use 5.5 or 6 but I am using 4mm, I think that should make it tighter right? I’m pretty new to crochet so idk. I also only have 1 hook, my 4mm hook :slight_smile:

Do you guys do this too?

I rarely use the same size hook that it recommends hahah. Tho sometimes when making clothing patterns its just important to get the right gauge. So you can use a different hook, you might just have to make a couple modifications, like you said, its gonna be tighter with the smaller hook
