Amigurumi Basics YouTube suggestions

Hi fellow Amigurumi lovers!

I’m making an “Amigurumi Basics” series on my YouTube channel and I want to see if I’m missing any basic techniques. So far I have magic ring, single crochet, and increase (a decrease video will be out soon).

What else do you wish you knew before starting Amigurumi?

Thanks in advance!!

Here’s the Amigurumi videos in case anyone’s interested!

Use a smaller hook if you can see holes / stuffing.

you could do one about working with blanket/super bulky yarn

You could do a video about how to work into the 3rd loop (on the back) when crocheting into the other side of a chain. It avoids the center holes that the normal working under the back loop then front loop on the other side, ends up with.

Those are great ideas thanks! I didn’t even think about fastening off!

Ooo that’s a good one! Thank you!

That’s a really good idea! I forget how tricky it is to learn on bulky yarn. Definitley takes some getting used to.

i agree, it definitely takes some getting used to

Oh yeah that’s a good idea! I usually work in spirals, so I sometimes forget about the joined round option haha.

That would be cool to show the options for sewing on pieces! Thanks for the idea!

Ooo I’ll have to look into that. I’ve actually never tried this technique! It sounds like a good way to get rid of holes.

On the fasten off , I like to do an invisible finish.

It’s a technique that I use a lot. Ever since I made a hippo when I was a beginner, and the nose had a bunch of holes in it from the initial chain.

You could do bbl stitch? Or a popcorn or picot stitch? They are used in quite alot of patterns.
You could also show how to attach limbs/parts of amigurumi on the round (no sew technique).
You could also show how to do an invisible colour change/ fasten off!
